Greycoat Farm was formed in 1985 after 25 years of being just "Our Barn", and being used to stable the many different breeds of the day as the children grew up and participated in many equine activities. We decided to become a breeding farm and raise this new breed called a Curly when we were introduced to it in 1984 at the Hoosier Horse Fair. We found that the wonderful attributes and the aura of mystery that surrounds this animal appealed to us. This wasn't any ordinary horse that came to our farm and changed my life. Ten years of training, riding and showing these horses in Dressage as well as riding vacations in the mountains of Wyoming convinced me that the abilities, athleticism and ease of training surpassed my highest expectations. Those years also introduced the Curly to the State, Region and Country as perhaps one of the most capable horses that could constantly win with the rider of any age at whatever level within their expertise. Sparky's son, Sparlock, carried an ecstatic and determined 8-yr old girl to victory in the walk/trot class as well as his teen age rider to a First Level victory in the State. At the present time, after many years of trials and errors, we have decided to concentrate on what we do best - produce the top Dressage horses in the country and promote the wonderful qualities of the Curly Horse. We have shown for the past 15 years and have competed successfully with the Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds that have been bred for this sport. My greatest pleasure is in introducing others to this horse with its love of people, and ensnaring them in it's spell. Please come out and visit - on the web site or in person - at this modest little farm tucked away in exurbia. You will be pleased at what you find here and hopefully, you too will be drawn into mysterious web of the Curly.
